Upcoming planting event at the Emmaus Library
You may have noticed some activity along the intermittent stream behind the Emmaus Public Library, between Main and Ridge streets. That's been us, working with the Borough to eliminate invasive Japanese knotweed and improve water quality.
Thanks to help from the Lehigh Gap Nature Center and the Borough of Emmaus, we're acquiring some plants to improve the area. We need your help to get them in the ground on Saturday, September 24th.

How to contact us (Email address change)
In the past we've used "eacinfo @ uppermilford.net". The Township is moving to a new email provider which charges by the number of email addresses used. Since the EAC address didn't get a lot of activity, we're consolidating with the main township email account: info@uppermilford.net. Township staff will forward any EAC-related emails to us.
Our meetings are always public. They're held at 7pm on the 4th Monday of each month (usually December's meeting ends up being canceled) and alternate between the Emmaus and Upper Milford municipal buildings: Upper Milford in the odd-numbered months, and Emmaus in the even-numbered months.

Community Cleanup Event Official Flyer and More Details
First, the official flyer is now available.
This year there will be a few additional events after the cleanup part. A naturalist from the Wildlands Conservancy will be doing a vermicomposting (composting using worms) demonstration, and Paul Miller, a member of the EAC from Upper Milford Township, will be running a "Quest" for small teams to encourage exploration of the Emmaus Community Park and the EAC's mission.

- Electronics Recycling: RRS will be collecting electronics. Some large items require a fee. No alkaline batteries, such as AAA or D-cells, will be accepted.
- Document Shredding: the EAC is partnering with Representative Justin Simmons and Senator Pat Browne to offer free on-site document shredding.
- Household Goods Recycling: Recycle Local will be collecting clothing, furniture, toys, and other household items. Proceeds will benefit the EAC, helping to offset the cost of providing the other services.

Learn about the Birds & the Bats
Mark your calendars for Saturday, Feb. 18. The Longswamp Township Environmental Advisory Council will host a backyard wildlife workshop at TEK Park, 9999 Hamilton Blvd, Breinigsville, on the first floor. Download Event Flier.
The theme — Birds, Bees, and Bats Too! Why We Need Our Winged Friends — will be broken down into three sections: Steven Saffier of the Audubon Society will discuss the creation of bird habitat and sustainable landscaping, identifying birds, the Great Backyard Bird Count, and Bird Town programs.
Dan Mummert of the Pennsylvania Game Commission will talk about bats, the effects of White Nose Syndrome, how to handle bat conflicts in the home, and bat conservation efforts.
James Griesemer of Griesemer Beekeeping will discuss the benefits of honeybees and our native mason bees; the basics of keeping honeybees, and what we can do to help our pollinators.
Although the event is free, you must RSVP by Feb. 11 by sending an e-mail to Longswampeac@gmail.com or by calling or texting Cathi at 610-216-7976. Provide your full name and contact information. Registration will be confirmed by e-mail or phone.
